  • While reading the book, it became quickly apparent that the author attempts to compensate for the lack of quality information with excessive repetition. This book could be boiled down to a 5-page pamphlet.

  • I live in Houston and initially talked to the author, Robin Kessler, about doing some practice interviews before an important interview. Because I was temping at the time and couldn’t afford it, she suggested I read this book to prepare myself. I wasn’t too excited about reading a book, but was very glad that I did. I have never studied so hard for an interview before and didn’t really understand the need to prepare myself in such a thorough way. However, it was well worth it-this book was a quick read-broken down into bite size pieces and really helped me come up with a way to take my experience, write it down in an outline, and be able to speak it clearly in an interview setting. I also liked the fact that she suggested looking at the job description to pull key/buzz words out and turn those into competencies to be focused on. I took those competencies and found 2 or 3 examples from my experience and had those examples in mind while in the interview. It worked and I felt prepared. Definitely worth the read and price for any interview setting. Thanks, Robin!

  • Kessler’s book enables you to cut through irrelevant factors in an interview and prepare for the most commonly asked questions. The book makes it clear that you have to not only anticipate these questions, but spend time working through your answer and matching your strongest examples to correct interview questions. With jobs being so scarce at this time, your odds of landing a job decrease significantly if you don’t prepare correctly and truly put your best foot forward. Kessler’s book provides all of the tools to excel in your next interview.

  • This book did a good job of expaining this interview style and how to “work it” to the reader. I feel that it could have been accomplished in about half the number of pages, but am not sorry I bought the book.

If you’ve never been through one of these interviews, and have one coming up, buy the book and read it twice. It may very well make the difference between you and the next guy getting the job. If you’re already pretty skilled at this type of interview, the book may not rise to the level you want, unless you just think you’re skilled and haven’t been getting the offer. If that’s the case – buy the book.

This book is so easy to read and apply. The strategies and guidance helped me to get my first job out of college. I’m about to go on another job search and plan on reading the book all over again. This book is definitely required reading for any serious job-seeker.

To the author, Robin Kessler: Thank you for writing this book! It’s a keeper for a life-time.
